Despite having Mercruisers, I have Sherwood E35 raw water pumps...an apparent change during a past re-power. These are the pumps that were commonly used by Crusader.
That PITA carbon bushing in the end plate keeps crumbling and chipping. This thimble sized part is not only costly (for what it is), but also requires a press and arbor for installation.
Has anyone solved this problem or tried the plugged bronze aftermarket bushings?
I'm sick of changing these things at every impeller change (like I did yesterday).
