Shelter island recommendations

hello all,
cruising to block island 7/25 but wanted to start trip early and leave 7/24 in the afternoon.
can anyone recommend a mooring on west side of shelter island? last time we did the trip we got a slip in greenport at mitchell park marina. that was fine but looking to switch it up a bit. figuring taking a mooring would save a couple bucks and im really only going to be there overnight and will leave at first light.

The only anchorage on the west side is West Neck Harbor. You enter it on the south west side of Shelter Island. The aren't any moorings but there is an anchoring field. There is also the Island Boat Yard Marina. If you want a mooring, you will need to go to Coecles Harbor on the east side of Shelter Island or Dering Harbor across from Greenport. Coecles Marina I believe has transient moorings as well as the Rams Head Inn, both being in Coecles Harbor.
