My wife won her race for Alabama House of Representatives tonight.:smt038 She had 3 opponents and won with 53% of the vote, so NO runoff!! She also does not have a Democrat opponent so she now has won the seat. I haven't seen my boat since early March and we had a long weekend planned at the beach and I was so looking forward to it , but then the Governor called to congratulate her and invited us to dinner Friday night. I'd rather see my boat!
Anyway, I had an earlier thread several months ago about what she could do in the House to help boaters, so that question is now back on the table.

Great news! Congratulations!

Congratulations

Have her run for president, that would help us.

Congrats! Now you will probabally see you boat more than you see your wife :smt089.

As a Former Kentucky State Representative I know how hard it is to win an election. My hat is off to her. Great job and good luck! JC

I am an Alderman in our small town of 10,000 so I can appreciate the efforts you and your family have made. Thank her for serving - it is important to have good people serving.

Congratulations to your family and welcome back to your life ;-) Seriously, from the part of North Alabama that has Dumb & Dumber representing us, she has her work cut out for her.
Hopefully she will not be trying to decide what to do about this oil leak her entire first term. It's great that we will have someone who knows about life on the water.

Congrats on her win! Any public service is admirable!

Do you get one of those license tags for your car that let you speed to the capitol when in session?:thumbsup:

So you are the first man.....I see a lot of you in Todd Pailin.....Big win for the good guys...did you find out how many affairs your wife had during the campaign

As a matter of fact, she does get one of those tags. Actually, while in session, she can't be arrested at all unless it is for a very serious crime like murder etc. We had one of the Birmingham reps a couple of years ago get charged with bribery (he was convicted and is serving time now) but they had to wait about 6 weeks for the session to end before his arrest.
The idea behind this law was the fact that 100+ years ago, arresting a senator or legislator was a common way for opposing officials to influence the outcome of a certain bill, ie, you can't vote for or against a bill if you're not there.
