Well, it’s a good thing you two have this out and the open now, pre-marriage and pre-kids.

At the risk of getting bunnies with pancakes on their head thrown at me from fellow forum members, how important is boating to you?

If boating is a big deal to you as it is to me, you likely already inside know that although there are things that attract the two of you to one another, there is at least one key are where you are not compatible.

I’m fortunate that my Admiral and I share the same religion; political views most of the time (disgust with both parties) interests and similar upbringing. We are best friends and I’m not afraid to admit it. Arguments with each other are rare.

Now our barely pre-teenage daughter, that’s another story. Dang I hope the younger two kids are less dramatic during their years of adolescence.
 
I dated and later married a gal who had fear of boating. Had not been on a boat (until with me) in almost 27 years. You may ask why she has a fear and then approach a way to calm the fear.
My wife was uncomfortable since she was 16 and saw her Dad drown due to horseplay docking a boat in Lake Meade.
I don't horseplay, showed her my USCC certificate and also clearly display my calm, and serious attitude toward boat safety. She's a weak swimmer and we keep the throwable float (required) easy to reach, but in her case keep a life jacket below her feet (she can grab it if she wants), she's never grabbed it.
If it's due to heat tolerance > meaning she can't tolerate heat well (mine can't now) > get another gal. If I had to do this again > get another.
If it's due to sun exposure, that can be fixed too. I got skin cancer after we met and I went from a 160 to a 270.
I suggest tryin' to find out why. If it's 'unreasonable'....I'm like the rest posted.....get another.

Get used to it... they lose their brains then, and don't get them back, until around 22 or so... Same for boys, my experience has found.

Do you know how lucky you are? Get another girlfriend for the weekends who enjoy's boating. Problem solved.
 
I pretty much agree with everyone that says throw this one back. If she's not open minded at all then it will just create drama and arguments later. When your out on the water with all your friends and their girls while yours is at home you'll start feeling like the odd man out, 3rd wheel ect...

I say if she's willing to work on it keep her. if she wants nothing to do with it then pack her bags for her and don't look back. In the end you'll more than likely sell the boat against your will to make her happy.

Never a more true word spoken. I say boot her. Life is way too damn short to fiddle around with someone that you can't connect with when it comes to your passions. There are way too many girls out there to get hung on one that is incompatible at the most basic level. The couples that I know that are the happiest,share some kind of hobby that they are both passionate about(cars,boats,dogs etc.) The ones that are not happy-they have different interests. You can see it when one is talking about their hobby-the other one's eyes glaze over and they give the"whatever" type response. Thats a deal breaker. May not seem like it now(thinking with chief little head) but, if you can't relate in the personal interests arena-your relationship is probably FUBAR.
 
Had an xwife who didnt like much of the same as I. We married young, didnt seem to matter as much then. The life goes on and you find you spend less and less time together until you end up giving her half of your frikkin' estate.

I say kill her now. If I killed my ex wife on our honeymoon I would have been out by now.

oh wait, girlfriend? Dump her.
 
Well now that we've all ended his relationship, let's pick out a boat for him.

Holy Crap!! I thought I was the only one who once had a girl like that. I was 16 at the time, and had no problem going 3-4 times a day back then. It was still not enough for her :wow: Our relationship ended within a year but the physical part took about 2 years to end :grin: J.V., trust me, you don't want a woman like that. The main problem is when you don't satisfy her, which is impossible for any man, she will find another to Umm, fill her needs. It sucks to find out your girls really been around the block, literally, behind your back.

Oh yeah, for the original poster, find a different chick. What good is a hot girl if you don't get to see her in a bikini on the boat?? SB

Thanks for all the advice. Too bad there's not a "Super Admiral" pill I could slip her. The boat gets pulled out for winter at the end of the month. That gives me all winter to try and bring her around!
