She doesn't like boating!

I had a past girlfriend that was terribly self conscious and refused to go to the lake with me because she thought everyone was looking at her in a swim suit. It was the truth a little because she had great T!T$ but it led to our break up eventually because I went with or without her. Great T!T$ aside boating was more important than her feelings and I found a true first mate at the lake when I was without her that is great looking and a great boat hand and it made for a great story.

My guess is no.

My youngest daughter was in a boat that overturned a few years ago and was scared to death of boats and water.
This year we got her swimming and loving boats again.

If this is a case of her having a bad incident on a boat you MAY be able to change her mindset, if its worth ther effort to do so.
If not.......Every ship needs a proper crew. It may be time to restart the search :wink:
 
Find out why she doesn't like the water.

My wife was afraid of water, found out she had an incident in a pool where she almost drown, and that was causing her fear. She did go out on my bowrider while we were dating though.

After we were married, I sold the bowrider and got a cuddy cabin. We were not expecting her to be able to sleep on the boat, but low and behold she did, and she loves being able to and the friends we are meeting/hanging out with on the boat. Once we can afford it, we are going to get a cruiser.

If you can't make her come around easily, ditch her. There are too many fish in the sea to be stuck with one who doesn't share your passion for the water....
 
It took me 30 years to get my first boat. It typically takes 1 month or less to get a new g/f. I say keep the boat and go fishing....for a new gf. Besides, it sucks to boat alone. All your friends will ask you, 'Don't you have a gf? Why isn't she with you on your boat?' After a few times like that, you will quickly find someone else.

Besides, what's not to like about boating....sun, sand, tanning, parties, friends, fun, swimming, bikinis, fishing, water sports, the wind in your hair, beer....something in it for everyone. If she is afraid of the water, you can buy here an inflatable life vest. After a few times out she will get used to the water and will most likley ditch the PFD.

All good comments guys. Definitely have a dilemma on my hands. I leave her every weekend at about 3:00 on Friday afternoon and return from the lake Sunday night. Good thing we work in the same office or I'd never see her. Yep, she's hot and a great gal. She did almost drown when she was little. She says it's just not her thing but doesn't want to stop me from going since I love it so much. But, would definitely be much funner if I could share it with someone besides drunk John at the marina!

Becareful what you wish for. My friend got remarried to his dream woman(liked sex). She would offer to have sex anykind, anytime, anywhere he wanted and expected him to do the same for her. Other than for work the poor guy was rarely completely clothed. If they did make it to their boat most times he never started it. After 5 years he couldn't take it anymore, they divorced.

My First wife didn't like boating too much, but she knew I did, so she somewhat tolerated it when we bought My first boat(1991 180BR SeaRay). I went waterskiing in the early mornings before her and the kids would wake up. When our Daughter arrived I wanted to go out with the whole family, but there wasn't too much room to allow the kids to nap, etc. I convinced her that a 220OV was a great fit. We ordered a 1995 220OV at the Boat show. Still a sporty boat but the cuddy would be good for the kids. Every time we went out it seemed like it was really more "My thing" and I went by myself or with the kids ......we grew apart in other areas and kaput.

I was concerned about affording the boat and contemplating selling it and letting the dust settle from the divorce. Then when I met my now wife Mo, Mo said don't do that let's go use it. SOLD!< We had an absolute blast, used it more in the one year in '97 than I had in the previsous 2 years I owned it. My Older Kids(young at the time 4 and 6) had a great time too.

On a date via boat one night on Lake Union in Seattle Mo and I were waiting for a table at a restaurant, parusing an adjacent Jewlery store. We found a necklace with the Art and Tag describing "Nehalennia"

That was the original "Nehalennia" boat....and we've been happily married ever since.

It's a true fit when you can share and enjoy your passion with your spouse.

You would never know what this woman would pull out of her bag of tricks(literally). Her neediness actually created health concerns for my friend. If you can afford a larger boat that would have a crew then maybe you would get to look out a port hole once in a while.

That just sounds like an urban legend. They should capture her and study her in a lab to see what causes this behavior and replicate it. I'm for cloning.

Yes she is special, a walking, talking sex organ. My friend for years was the typical partying musician, everything he did was over the top. After his time with this woman he asked me if it was possible to be sexually abused at age 55 because that's what it felt like. I better get off this, family site you know.

prochaska, I was in the same situation as you. I was dating a girl I worked with who was good looking, fun and just an overall sweet girl. However, over time I started to resent having to go boating without her because I really wanted to be with someone who had the same interests as me. Sooner or later she is going to resent you for leaving her every weekend. We eventually broke up and are still friends. I have since met a girl who has all the same qualities but likes boating.
