Sharp Decline in long trips/says Skipperbuds

we are boating more this year than last year so far and at the same time not buying as much gas. We moved the boat to the sound and have a lot more close destinations to choose from. Last year we would have to cruise 3 hours to "get somewhere". Rain or shine we are out there.

We moved our boat closer to where we wanted to boat this year too. Paying for two slips now but we are still ahead.

We've moved our boat futher up north, near Elk Rapids where we tend to play more, saving over 300.00 round trip pulling it around from lake to lake. Storage fees under 500.00 dollars, I'd say we're spending less on feul this year even though the price is higher, seeing that we dont eat 100 gallons per trip trialer this beast.
TC, "Ambiance" is in Kewadin 5 miles north of Elk Rapids at "The Boathouse" Storage barns... What a great guy Rich is.. super to deal with. We were up there with Salt Dog, Paul and Kathy a few weekends ago, and it was so cold...I can't believe you had to tell me it's warm and sunny up there.

Hey Guys - TC410/Boltman

Jeff, sorry we missed you around the Bay in the spring, maybe in the fall when we are back up that way. Robert is right, when we were there is was pretty chilly. So how is the boat running? We headed around to Frankfort from Elk Rapids May 31st. It was a pretty good ride, foggy all the way out of the Bay but a good time.

We just got back from the wine festival in Leland, the marina was not full, quite a few empty slips which is unusual for that event. Price of diesel in Leland was $4.53, actually not bad given what we have paid so far this year. We will be scaling back on the tirps some this year due to costs, cooking on the boat more to save some money. Of course we have another dog on board so it kind of balances out - save here spend there - it's a dog boat.

I would say that the weather so far has not been the greatest and that may be keeping people from traveling. So much rain - on the good side the water levels are still going up. We are starting to notice more boats coming into Frankfort either for a fuel stop or overnight so that is good. Maybe just a slow start to the season.

Hey Paul-

We couldn't decide between Elk Rapids or Leland. Elk Rapids won out due to the unpredictable nature of Lake Michigan this time of year. Although, I bet the Lake was just as tame as the bay this past weekend. We hade a few impromptu thunderstorms, followed by beautiful clear skies. Same as Leland, I presume.

$4.58 isn't too bad. Same as Elk Rapids. My sister and bro-in-law came down to ER from Charlevoix to meet up with us. He liked the $4.58 enough to take on 1,000 gallons (58 Viking). We've got $4.39 at Harbor West.

Last weekend, Clinch was $3.79. I didn't need it then but I radioed them yesterday on the way back from ER, they raised it Saturday to $4.39 - so I missed out.

We'll look for you and Ambiance on the water. FYI - we will be going to ER more this summer.

Hey TC, does this mean we'll see you more this year in the Bay's? Maybe we should Hale you when we're out. We are considered now to be Permanent Transients. in Elk Rapids.. We love them people. I know we're spoiled, because we know the harbor master Cheryl....he he So we're going to make the most of it.
Well starting June 27th, we're heading for the North Channel until July 7th. Feul is going to be on our minds, so we're goin to take it slow, it's not wise to ge up on plane in the North Channel anyways....God I can't wait, 10 day's ....alone with My Wife... yeah....
