Bill,
I talked to the Chicago Sea Ray Service Manager this monrning about whether or not alignment checks could be done on land versus in the water. He said they do not do alignment checks on land on Carver boats because their hulks flex too much. However for smaller Sea Rays like the 320 or 340, the hulls are stiff enough that land versus water hull deflection is not that much. So doing engine alignments in the water versus land is dependent on the boat hull stiffness and not necessarily if its an inboard versus V drive etc. Since you have a 320 like I do, you could have had the alignment checked either on land but you have the option to have it checked in the water. I really don't since I am still unsure at this time about the service quality at my new marina which is why I preferred to have my dealer do it.
