Any one have any idea what model VHF antenna was used on an 05' 260 Sundancer. Forgot it up when i pulled her out of the water. didn't realize it until I got home... 120 miles later.

Also when installing is there anything special that needs to be done or is it basically a plug and play application

Thanks in advance

Is that a product Number? IF so i can't find it anywhere. Also the link provided does not work. I guess i should say that i am looking for hte 8' VHF antenna

Many of the S-R part numbers are unique to them. Which makes you dealer dependent or you can visit Jim's - the site sponsor at the top of the page and order a new one through him. The Antennas are fairly universal and will work with your mount. I would not splice the antenna into the old cable. It is not that far of a run.

I'd say just get your self a good quality shakespear antenna and not be worried about factory part number. they are avialable at just about any good quality boating store.

you also need a sodering wand/gun. to soder the connector to the cable once you re-run the cable to the radio. make sure your connections are clean and you cable is just the right size with a little slack but not too much.

and fo heavens sake don't let someone talk you into splicing it with the old cable.

Just did an install on a friends boat and used the Shakespeare solderless connector. Surprisingly, if you do it right, it works well. Probably not as good as a solid soldered connection but easier/faster.

Just splice it... You can then have connections that look like this in a few years:

Your model # should be still near the base if you have that much left.

any 8ft vhf ant. will work
for connectors use one of those - they work very good and Searay uses them for last 3 years.

Right on the button. I replaced the factory Glomex or whatever it was with one of Shakespeare's Galaxy XP antenna's. The white matched the boat better.... and I accidentally left Glomex up on the trailer... :smt021

Boy am i glad i din't ask for someone to PM me on this super secretive antenna replace ment. I can't can't imagine the responses i would have got about my broken 8' antenna rod

Just an update and an FYI if any other 260 owners have to replace there VHF antenna.

It was a very simple fix that i almost made very complicated. I found the wire that came directly out of the back of the radio went as far as to puting the wire cutters on a giving pressure. It was only then that i realized that this wire was slightly thicker then the wire coming off of the antenna. After having realized this the light in my head said look in the bottom access cover of the arch...Bingo. There is a connection right there above the hole that leads in to the side of the boat. No re running wires through the boat necessary. Just attach new antenna add sodderless connection and end of story.

My radio seems lacking on range(antenna is straight). I looked inside the arch to check connections and SR has a splice there and those solderless connections(cross threaded but tight). I wonder if this is to make it easier for arch removal during shipping. Still haven't found out what's up with the radio, I guess I'll have it checked.

Everything actually seemed to be better after the install. I'm sure if the wire ran all the way to the radio it would get better receptioin but for hte boating i do the range (26 miles via a radio check) with this setup was fine.

I'm sure it was set up this way for arch removal and idiot like me leaving there antenna up while on a trailer. (should of had it at a 45 degree angle, might still be there)
