I just purchased my brother-in-laws 1990 270 SunDancer. Been on stands for 10 years. Engines were flogged, and outdrives removed and stored indoors. I plan on spraying WD40 down the cylinders (removing plugs) for a couple weeks before I even attempt trying to rotate the engines manually. Any thoughts on that? Also, the marina plans on putting the boat in the water and towing it to the ramp so I can load it on a trailer. Is there a cap or cover I can purchase to place over where the outdrives bolt on, or do I have to bolt the outdrives back on? Any other thought or watch items I should look for?
Thanks

If you have to, cut some 3/4 ply and bolt and sikaflex seal into place of the out drives. Make sure you have charged batteries on board so can run a bilge pump if needed.

Dropping directly as also suggested would be easer

Mystery oil will work much better than WD40.

When I purchased my 1990 270 DA we put it on the trailer with the forklift, worked great other than I had to adjust the roller bunks as the trailer was brand new and wasn't configured for the 270. +1 on the mystery oil also. Good luck, and you have a nice boat that you will enjoy as long as you don't mind restoring something. Hopefully it is good shape overall.

Thanks. The boat used to be beautiful. i'll have a lot of elbow grease in hr. New upholstery, new canvas, etc. If I can get the engines to run, then the rest will fall into place.

At my marina they put boats on trailers with a forklift all the time.
