I thought I'd post this since the question has come up many times on CSR.

I've been thru this a few times with several boats trying to find an automotive belt to cross reference to a Mercruiser belt, I haven't found any good table by SR part number. Here is what I know ( which is limited) if you have your old belt you can measure it or take it to your local auto store if it's shredded use a string to measure the length you'll need, make sure you follow the correct path the belt goes on your engine, the tensioner should be in about the half way position.

After you find your length convert it from inches to mm
http://millimeterstoinches.com/

Example of belt cross reference to a 6PK2655
6= 6 ribs
PK is Poly K Series
2655=2655mm
Converts to 104.527" Long

Here's a link to Poly K Series 6 rib belts for cross reference to bando, dayco, gates, cadna, pix, napa, goodyear etc. or any other type belt all you need to do is find your length in the table.

Hope this helps someone in the future.
I always carry a spare.

I work at an Advance Auto parts. Just had to replace the mercruiser 57-865615-003 on my 05 5.7 MPI Magnum the Dayco equivalent is 5061065 If someone could sent me a list of Mercruiser belt #'s I would be happy to cross reference to automotive part numbers

Great info I was just about to post a question about this after seeing the prices for Mercruiser belts. One question is how do I measure it? Do I fold the belt at both ends and measure the its length then double it (since it is folded)? Or is there a better way?

A few years ago my power steering belt was “Whining” too much. I was going to order a MerCruiser belt but decided to go to the store. I went to AutoZone but they did not have an exact match. I went to Napa and one was very close. I bought it and put it on. No problems

Bring the belt to the store they have the tool to measure it

How ofter should you replace the belts? I would guess I still have my originals from 2003?

You used to be able to look at the back of the belt and look for cracking. Yours might be old enough to qualify for that test. With the newer belts, there's actually a tool that you can use and it "measures" the actual ribs to see if they're getting worn too far, which will result in slippage, the belt heating up and eventually breaking. The tool looks like a little plastic comb that you put on the belt to measure.

Here's a DAYCO video with some images:
