8112I6-Dont recall the exact breakdown but essentially a plant sequence number, week of manufacture, etc. maybe someone else will comment with more detail.

.....and I = August (8th letter = 8th month) 6 = 1996. So your boat was built in August of 1996 and it is a '97 model. There are a couple of threads on this site which detail all of the current and former plant locations along with the serial # codes.
