Alright,so,I'm a wimp. We did our last cruise of the season today. After washing the boat, waxing it,winterizing it and covering it-I felt so sad. First boat, first season, its over. No more until next spring. Have some great memories and some not so great memories but all in all,we have loved being Sea Ray owners and can't wait until next spring.

We took a couple of friends, cruised to Waterside, had lunch at Jillians, played some video games and stuff, cruised around and went back to the launch. Had a very nice day. The boat was a little tempermental on cold start but ran flawlessly once we got going. I guess some carb work is in order before we launch it next spring.

So,how do you do it? How do you deal with the end of the season? Stay in a alcoholic stupor until April? Find another hobby? I can't believe I am so bummed about this but I am.
Oh well,it's only about seven months:smt089.

wow 7 months without boating. I cannot imagine... I could not do it. We are fortunate to live in an area of the country where we never put the boats away. Sorry I am unable to help with the anxiety.

I hated it so bad that I moved to FL from the Great Lakes area. I'd recommend heading south ;-)

Yes we boat all year long in the South. Somehow you are not getting much sympathy from us are you.

I can't handle 3 weeks. Thinking about hiring a shrink...: - )

football, skiing, build a Mojo and any other winter activity you can to keep your mind off boating! If we had to boat year around, we'd get tired of boating so the winter months are good to keep us enthused!

Like other southern boaters, we put the canvas around the cockpit and boat through the winter. No fools on jetskis to crowd you in January! I get separation anxiety if I can't get to the water for two weeks. Even if I don't go out on Gratitude, I'll go to the marina, clean her a little, start a project, or as the admiral says, just "pet the boat". If yours is on a trailer and you keep her at home, I predict you'll go out periodically to give her a nice stroke.

I would sit back and enjoy the financial break. BTW, why are you stopping so early? It's still in the high 70's, low 80s in our area.

We enjoy things like Octoberfest, hunting, skiing/sleding, home renovation projeces, cooking, finishing those little boating projects that you didn't have time for....did I mention drinking?

You forgot about sitting in the captain's chair and making engines sounds.

My Doctor prescribes a little red pill that I start taking in October and finish up with in early May.

The neat thing is, if you take enough of them, you actually think you are boating!!!

I could mail you some??

We take a lot of video and pictures during the season so we have something to look at during the winter. Also, nothing is as good as just going to wherever your boat is stored, and taking in the smell of your boat and sitting at the helm making motor-boat sounds. :)

We try to use the time for home projects, winter sports for the kids, and anything else that we were too busy to do on our boating weekends.

I bought snowmobiles last winter and was going through withdrawls so
I bought a boat to get me through the summer now I don't know which one I like better.

I think he already jumped from the bridge.......

I'm going to try and keep boating all year too. I'll winterize in between trips in case we get a cold snap. I store my boat in covered storage yard on the trailer. It can get cold here usually in short intervals, but I don't want to risk anything so I'll get some antifreeze in raw water side.

We look forward to getting our boat out of storage and look forward to putting it away for 6 months. It's time for us to put the top down on the TT and do some serious color touring. After that, it's off to California a few times to visit children and play with grand kids. This coming Friday will be spent on the hook to be followed by winter maintenance work.

Find other interests.

TO us, the boat being put away is a little sad, of course, but it also means the next season is upon us...pumpkin picking, halloween, the colors of fall, outdoor fires in the firepit, hot cocoa, starting up the fireplace, then glorious snow for boarding, skiing, sledding, snowmobiles, the lakes will freeze and time for some pond hockey and skating with the family...etc...

DOnt you all have any other interests in life? :smt001

It's a boat.

Even if we could boat all year, I would hate it, as that would mean that there would be no change of seasons, and no winter activities. I could never live in the south. Too boring.
