At least two docks at the marina "next door" got shredded this morning. It's 3 miles by car, roughly 1.5 if I cut through the woods and water. I slipped there in 2013 when I first got my boat, as did FM's parents and his aunt/uncle. All of us have moved across the lake, but it's a small one so most everyone is like family; the restaurants at both marinas are owned/operated by the same folks.

Thankfully no reports so far of injuries at the marina, but some people who were on their boats had to be rescued. Send good thoughts for fast insurance assessments!!

Terrible news. Good thoughts sent!

It's been a long time since I've been there. Looks like Percy Priest? Prayers sent.

I feel very sad for the owners of all those boats, hope their insurance takes good care of them.

I don't like covered marinas, they seem very vulnerable to high winds and snow load. I'd venture to say that if there had been no roof cover, the damage would have been limited to torn canvas and dock rash. I know you folks in these marinas love the covered aspect but they just seem like accidents waiting to happen. Any benefit of protection from the elements is negated when a bad storm collapses the entire structure onto the boats.

We are very thankful our marina only sustained minor damage to the restaurant and boat shop.

I saw this on the news tonight, made me sick to see it, prayers and thoughts to all involved. Hope all turns out well for them.

NWS confirmed it was an EF1 tornado. This link has a news story, a photo gallery (marina photos as well as other areas also hit by tornadoes and damaging winds), then if you scroll lower has drone footage of the marina.

The dock hit hardest broke loose and landed against a neighboring dock (to the left as the video starts), pulling its attached sister dock with it and effectively closing off the alley that extends from the launch ramp. The fingers are pulled up and onto the roof.

I grew up in northern IL where tornado drills were commonplace in school, and most everyone had a basement. Have been in TN going on 27 years, but haven't lost my respect for this particular trick from Mother Nature's bag....it still bothers me to live in a slab foundation home with no true shelter, especially with this sucker hitting so close. I really can't imagine having been on one of the boats when it happened. (My 72 year old mother, arrived from IL only 2 years ago, had her LED camping lantern at the ready with plans to grab the dog and shut herself into the under-stair closet. And then complained mightily that local TV stations didn't return to regular programming quickly enough after our sirens stopped. :smt101 )

Where are you?

Just saw reports that Cedar Creek had collapses, too....sheesh! I guess Four Corners got more than its share of air time.

We are at Cedar Creek marina and not the yacht club. There were things tossed around and dock boxes damaged. Our marina is the same owner as 4 corners. I was down there yesterday and everything looks good for us.

All my best thoughts to the boaters in both areas.

we had a boat here in Pittsburgh sink the other night with the high winds and water levels. it was unattended so not sure how or where it was tied up. only saw on the news that it had sank. looked like a 20-25'er maybe but it was upside down in the pic on TV so hard to say
