UK - boating Wales
Boat Info
375 Sedan Bridge & 230 Select Fission
Engines
Twin Yanmar Diesel & 5.7 V8 Petrol
We've sold a couple but when it comes to the large ones i.e. the one that we have now, there seems to be little interest in the EU for people looking to buy larger SeaRays as the market over here is mainly Princess, Fairline and Sunseeker. Any recommendations on how to sell a non SeaRay sports boat in the EU?

Thanks

Problem in EU is to sell any boat.... I believe in the UK the situation is not much different than in Italy, more so if you want to sell a larger Sea Ray. They are not very popular here if larger that 32' 35'...

The only solution would be to find a larger boat you like to buy and try to trade yours in  This is what I think to try to do when I will decide to move up to that 525...

I believe it's due to more than one reason. When it comes to 50' european customers what their boat to have 3 cabins, a garage for the tender, 2 heads and possibly a crew cabin...this is much different from what Sea Ray and other american builders offer, larger cabins, heads with separate shower, large cockpits.

Moreover european are more snobbish and do not want a boat with a brand emblem you can see on a 16' runabout... Princess, Azimut, Sunseeker etc. they all stopped building small boats.

And then there's the "admiral" factor... husband chooses a boat for its top speed (american boats are usually heavier though tougher) and the wife for the interior (usually europeans boats have a more stylish cabin)!

well , searay generally builds mostly fair weather boats - not optimum for the north sea and the english channel. so people tend to invest more in really seaworthy steel hull trawler styles . i see in italy more a chance for a big sea ray than in UK due to weather and lifestyle.

the tendency is also that boats bigger than about 30 feet are displacement hulls. a tribute to massive fuel prices in europe .
