First off, I know we are in a recession, boat sales are way down and we are getting in to August. I need to know what a suitable price would be to sell my red 2005 240 SD w/ the 6.2 engine. 150 hours and is slipped in mid missouri. I have a trailer and a 6000# polylift hoist that I'd like to sell with it, either one or both. Any thoughts?

Brent,
It's been a while, sorry to hear the boat has not sold. I see them going for in the mid 20s to low 30s, but that was earler this summer. Not sure about the lift? Have you tried just selling it??

This ad has been running in the local paper every Sunday for quite a while.

SEARAY 240 SUNDECK 2005 FSBO HYDROHOIST INC., EXC. CONDITION, LOW HOURS, CHOTO MARINA W/ WET SLIP $39,900 (865)363-8088

Do you think it would be better selling the hoist with it or seperately? Selling the hoist will take a little bit of the sting out of the loss on the boat.

IMHO - Sell the hoist separate then sell the boat and trailer as a package.

When I was trying to sell my 260 and hoist together - the hoist became a distraction. The hoist sold in the matter of a day separately - I listed it on Craig's List and emailed it to a few friends who forwarded to a few friends. I had a check the next day for the hoist. Talk to your marina and your original sales person - they always have people looking for hoist. The people that bought the hoist even paid to remove it. The price with the hoist will probably too high in today's market and the hoist just adds to the price. My used Jetski hoist I actually made money on. I lost money on the boat hoist. But I had bought the boat hoist new.

I am a longtime boater, have been with my Crownline (210 CCR) for 13 years. Looking to move up to the 240 SunDeck. In the Cincinnati area the 240 seems to be demanding more money. I am looking at a 2003 with a 350mag, Bravo III, Ski tower, vac-u-flush head about 250 hours, it is in above average condition and the asking price is $38,500. Where is your boat located and what are the details?

Dear Jone Brent

I are out of the country at the present time. You boat sound what I looking for. I am willing to pay your asking price plus bonus for shipping. I will send you a check for your asking price plus bonus plus shipping cost. I need you to pay the shipper so they pick up boat from your location. After you recieve my check, wire them the shipping fee and they come get the boat.

Much appreciation for your cooperation,

Robert Smith

Wanted to finish up on the story. After reading what everyone has to say about the 240 SD and getting some offline advise. We just purchased a 2005 240 SD. Don't take delivery for a few weeks, can't wait to get it on the water!! Anyone want to buy a 1993 Crownline 210 CCR?!

Do you mind if I asked what you purchased it for? You can send me a private message if you like.

I was just messing around but wanted to make a point for anyone who read this. Those scam artists will likely reach out to you and make a similar offer. I was selling a truck a few years back and I strung them on for while just seeing how far I could go with them. They sent me the fake check and then starting sending me emails asking if I got the check. I kept telling them I didn't get it. Finally they gave up.

Good job faking it, you fooled me. I've had that happen too and strung them along getting a fake check. It stopped being fun when I got a call from the guy. I don't know how they got my phone number because I never gave it out. My wife was freaking out that this foreign guy was calling and being threatening. We then called the Secret Service and it died off.
