So it looks like a deal is closing on my boat and I feel kinda sad. I put a TON of work into her and now she's a strong healthy girl. While we were heading back to port during the sea trial I was standing at the helm completely engulfed in the pure joy of being on the water. It was was as flat as glass and there was hardly a breeze that day. I was standing there tuning out the conversations around me I realized this was to be my last cruse with her. I thought to my self, it wouldn't be so bad if something went wrong at least I would get to keep her a little while longer however that wasn't the case and she will be enjoying the good life with someone else. :( My biggest mistake I guess was when we bought it, I pitched it to the wife as an investment opportunity thinking she will fall in love with boating and refuse to let me sell it. Well that never happened so it looks like it's a vacation home instead - just need to find one on the water so I have another excuse to get another boat... I'm thinking next time I want a tug but i'm sure that idea will change before then.

My Father in Law (RIP) got me into boating 20 years ago riding on his 340DB on the Ohio river. He moved on to RVs later in his life.

He light heartedly said to me: "My boating addiction lasted 30 years, we will see how long yours' lasts".

15 years in and I get the same feeling at the helm as you.

T4-Nice post Captain

The guy that bought our 450 is 5 slips down and at first I wasn't sure it was cool but now when I see her I'm happy without all the work if that makes sense. Change can be good and memories can last a lifetime.

I've cried like a girl every time I've sold a boat. But I'm fortunate to have a wife that cried along with me. We always dried our tears and went looking for the next one. I'm very sorry that your wife never embraced it. You've heard the old axiom.... The other day my wife gave me an ultimatum, either the boat goes or she goes. Man, I'm gonna miss her!

We are on our fith boat now and I feel so blessed that my bride enjoys boating as much as I do. I've always owned an airplane as well but she has absolutely no interest in flying. Getting ready to sell the bird and I'm pretty sure I won't miss her.
