SEI Drives

I am looking into replacing my trashed Alpha with a an SEI drive, my question is the Alpha has a 1.32:1 ratio and the SEI is a 1.47:1 how much difference will the gear ratio make in performance? I know I will have to figure out a new prop size I am running a 15.25 X 15 now. SEI will warranty it for 1 year but not the 3 year due to it being over 300hp but Merc only gives a 1yr warranty any way and is almost 5X the price for new.

I can't answer the prop question, but I think they make a good drive for a reasonable cost. Log on to their forums and read about others experiences, there are far more satisfied customers than dissatisfied ones. If I need any drives I plan to go with Stern Drive Engineering over Merc, mainly due to cost.

They seem like they stand behind thier product so if I do fix it if I can't find a used one that is the way I will go.
