In a previous thread I discussed the water flood issue we encountered this summer. $7,100 later...... And three weeks in the shop.

The seats have what looks like mold. I have read the previous threads on this issue but no one has posted pictures of what it looks like. I have small specs engrained in the vinyl. I am only guessing that this is mold. I have tried cleaning with 303. Nothing. I took a brush and some simple green, nothing. So any help would be appreciated.

Also do the seats come out for cleaning? I think I remember them in a bag at deliver but I don't know if they attach some how are are they just velcro.

The port side seats on mine are vectored down, not sure about the back rests.

You can also use Tilex, but don't let it run into the seams and stitching. It will get the mold tackled in a hurry. Otehrwise I use Spray Nine marine spray and that also works great.

For stubborn stuff you can use bleach. It will make mold disappear in a few seconds.Just be sure to rinse the area real good afterwards and be careful of the surrounding areas.keep anything you don't want bleach on wet.

You would be surprised how colorfast and durable this boat vinyl is.

Interestingly I thought the seat was showing signs of wear but then the other seats caught it. Hummm. I will start with the marine cleaners and move over to the harsher stuff.

DIdn't read all the rest of the threads on this so if someone has already said it sorry, but get these deals called "erasure pads" by Mr Clean. They come in packets of 5 or something like that. Get them at the grocery store. Takes the mold RIGHT out. I store in a pretty humid climate and am battling the mold all year long and these little deals do the job. Just my 2 cents.

I see mambo dave said it already. Yep, it's the "magic erasure" pads. He's correct in that it does come back however.

BE CAREFUL!!! Raw bleach will destroy any threaded seams and stitching if you get ANY on it. Rather use Tilex or a 2% dilute bleach solution (one cup bleach per gallon of water). That is waaaayyy enough to get the mold off. Tilex will take it right off.

Surface mildew is pretty easy to remove with the methods described above, however, when the vinyl ages or stays wet for a long time, mold grows between the vinly coating and the fabric is is bonded to. You are not going to remove that with cleaning products......the only fix is a trip to the canvas shop with your checkbook.

Just my 2 cents. In the factory, we use a combo of Fantastic/Acetate 90%....... Just dont leave the acetate on the threads nor a rag laying on your vinyl... Albeit, we DONT have excessive accumulation of molds, but this is just my 2c's.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Today was predicted to be rainy so we got started early. We had lunch at the Fish House and then hit the back waters for some wakeboarding. Our daughter Marisa has really taken to wakeboarding this year. Now it's a matter of gaining confidence in what she can do.

We headed in at 6 and worked on the seats with the fantastic. The seats look like new. Washed them off and hit them with the 303.
