The search light on my bow got dinged last year, and won't rotate now. I took it apart and the gears are chewed up, missing some "teeth". Anyone know where I could get replacement parts for it?

Dave,

Is the light the round chrome Jabsco # 62026? If so you may be out of luck in buying the parts. I tried a couple of years ago and ended up having to buy a new light. Jabsco (ITT Rule) was/is so big it didn't feel it necessary to talk to us little guys (their customers).

However, I did perform and autopsy on the old light and do have some good parts; two white nylon gears mounted on a stainless frame. Gears are about 2" diameter. and then I have three two stage gears that range form a half-ish to three quarterish. These little gears were from the gear drive in one of the motors. I'll look to see if there are any more in the basement. I know I also kept the good motor but can't imediatly find it.

If the stuff will work with you, let me know and we can work out some way for me to get this to you.

From what I can tell we need to call Henry "Mr. Haney", if any of ya'll know he is/was. Again Henry, thanks for all your help and advise.

J,

Have you used these guys? They look like a real find.

Henry

Yes I have, I had them overhaul the light on my last boat a number of years ago. I also talked to the guys at their booth once at the Miami Boat Show. If I ever have problems with the light on my 370, they will be the first place I go. Note to all that before you assume the light itself is broken make sure you check the joystick at the helm. I have replaced two of those over the years. You can get the joystick itself as a service part from Jabsco from any retailer that carries their stuff. These lights may not be as cool looking as the ACR units but, just based on the discussions I have seen over the years, they are a lot more durable.

Mine is the chrome Jabsco, it stopped rotaing years ago, I had to replace the toggle switch. Again it has stopped moving, the motors and gears are fine. I would like to test the toggle switch again but do not know how. Unless I get some advice here, I guess it is time to replace the switch again??

There's a thread on here about this issue - can't find it now but I did a month or so ago and it was dead on in having my light repaired. Best "platinum sponsorship" dollars I have ever spent...club sea ray.
