Does anybody know what year SeaRay boats started. I remember my father had a 65 16' flat bottom boat with a 90 Mercury on it. He use to take the windshield off it and it looked like a race boat. One thing four sure it was I rough rider.

My father's family used to own one of the largest Sea Ray dealerships in the midwest back in the 60s and 70s. Here's the logo from an old work jacket I found in his closet, circa 1964. They even have some old jackets and hats with the original Kiekhaefer Mercury logos. It's something special to see an old Sea Ray these days!

SeaRay is a play on words of the company's founder's name - C. N. (Connie) Ray.

The history is all in this book. A nice souvenir from Homecoming 2012.

I have this book, got it when I bought my Sundancer. Very detailed and runs on a bit but the beginning was interesting and their growth phenomenal. I just found a 1966 SRV 160 with a 150 Merc power tower ( think early 70's) with a vintage trailer. Boat faded and needs some floor work, no interior but a solid hull that needs TLC and paint. When I get some spare time I will begin working on it. I just restored an 85 Baja 22 which runs like a new boat

Thanks for the replies that book looks interesting. That 66 looks like it could be a cool project. I would love to find my fathers 65. We live in New Jersey he sold it to some guy who had a house in Canada in 76. I found my fathers 76 195 this winter. I have a thread in classic SeaRays. The 65 is light blue with a 90 on it with a Little dude trailer just putting it out there LOL. One more thing who has the oldest Sea Ray on this form let me know. Thanks Ron L

I found the Commanding the Waterways book on eBay for about $7 with shipping, so I ordered it. Looking forward to learning more about their history.
