Searay plant closing

That's sucks. The Riverview plant was where my boat was built. How many people live near that area. 275 isn't a huge number for job loss, but it is to the 275 people. That's no good/

Most of the 240DA-280DAs and larger sport boats where built at Riverview. I've toured it a couple times. The other Knoxville plant they are talking about is next door to it. That is where they build the sport cruisers up to the 340, I guess the 350DA now.

A Very GOOD friend in customer service lost his job today. Its a big loss for us loyal customers . He was a very good reason i kept going back . Searay might have just screwed the poooch for this customer.

I have also heard rumors within the industry, that Brunswick has produced all the boats they intend to produce for the 2009 model year.

The number was just upped to 575 losing their jobs (same article link)

Combine that with Goody's liquidation being announced today, and it has not been a good day for those of us in Knoxville. Thankfully, I work in the automotive industry, so I'm safe...err....ugh. :(

EDIT: Alcoa just announced they are cutting 450 jobs in Knoxville (area) today also. And the hits just keep on comin'! On a happier note, anyone have pics of the new Sundancer 54 mentioned in Sea Ray Living?
