So I did a beautiful job installing a new 32" Samsung flatscreen in the master stateroom but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get the old tube tv out of the cabin? It's about an inch too wide to fit through the door in any direction. Unless someone has an easier I think I'll have to start taking the tv apart. You'd think there would be an easy way for SeaRay to replace it. Help!!!!

Yep, I would take the TV apart... it's scrap anyway, right?

Welcome to CSR!

I am going to trash the TV anyway, you'd just think there'd be an easy way to swap it. Yes, sideways, upside down, at angles, no way, no how.

I don't know your boat, but do you have access from the back? Is there a closet (or something) with a removable panel? Another thought is that maybe the front trim pieces are removable? Again, this is all speculation as I don't know your boat - just some things I've come across over the years in other boats.

If you take the housing off be careful what you touch! There can be some very large capacitors back there that if not discharged properly could give you a fatal shock!

Also please post pics of your install. I'm sure everyone would like to see it and others may learn from it.

cheers,

True, always ground out the capacitor if working in the cabinet.

Actually, it's the picture tube that holds the majority of the charge. Be careful around the big red wire going to the tube... there's a big suction cup looking connection there.

Although it can be as much as 30KV DC, I have yet to see or hear of any fatalities from it. I've been hit with it a few times... it didn't it didn't it didn't bother ma ma ma me! :smt101
