The boat has had a couple rounds of different dingy systems and holes were species on but still visible. I was thinking SeaDek or one of the other variants. I would want to do the bridge, cockpit and swim platform.

We looked at a number of boats that had SeaDek and it doesn’t seem to wear very well. We have dogs that have nails and moss the pee pad occasionally. Is there a brand that holds up better than others? Is there a procedure for cleaning and maintaining to keep it looking nice long term? Thanks.

My two cents - do snap-in on anything in the bridge/cockpit areas, do stick-down only on the platform.

My experience is that the EVA foam has a 5 year life if well cared for. But it will scratch if you try hard enough. Snap-in synthetic appears to be about impossible to stain and nearly impossible to damage.

Thanks for the tip. That was option 2. There are snaps already on the floor in the bridge and cockpit. There is this….

but yikes….$208/yd.

I would suggest making your own patterns and getting a custom carpet mat set. That would take into consideration any changes or modifications that may have been made. Definitely recommend this when you have swim platforms with davit hardware (etc) mounted. We are dealers for both Corinthian and Infinity and can help you with the process and ordering.

A big thing when calculating costs is the required material width. Typically widths are in the 8 and 12 foot range (if available) but your costs are calculated over the linear length required regardless. Also shipping costs can add up quickly especially if you are oversized and require freight.

Maybe @Quint4 https://thecanvasmedic.com/ will chime in and will be able to help. He does some fine work and many here have used him with great results.
Depending where you are in your journey north you may be able to meet up. He is in New Bern, NC.

We are a week or so south of New Bern. Might give him a call. And see if he can do it on short notice. I can make them myself, just need to find the material. Just need to cut, bind and install snaps.

There won’t be anything mounted to the swim platform soon after we get home. Boat used to have a hydraulic freedom lift. Original owner removed it when sold to PO bit left the transom brackets. The plan is to go back to that or fab a fixed system using those transom brackets. I do t like anything screwed or bolted to the swim platform.

Synthetic is the way to go. Another thing we did that worked out extremely well, is to remove the male snap studs in the floors, and fill with marine tex. Corinthian carpets made my carpets for the 44DB and the 42DA and industrial velcro dots were sewn in. So much easier and better than dealing with the snaps and never ever slipped whatsoever.

I had @Quint4 make up the snap-in for my boat's bridge based upon templates I made. Couldn't be more pleased with the product and workmanship quality. Since installing I've pulled it out several times and cleaned both the deck and carpet. There is no way I'd do a glue-down system - the boat would be committed to glue-down carpet forever.
For a swim platform, I'd repair the structure and gelcoat and not cover it with anything.

Where are you located?

I am in New Bern, NC.......call me later today if you want to discuss ........phone number is on website (dont want to post number on here for the spam bots to grab at some point). www.thecanvasmedic.com
Cool. We are north on the ICW leaving Hilton Head. Maybe we can get together on this. I’d like to do the bridge and cockpit.

If you are good with a template, you can buy rolls from site sponsor Corinthian. Cut to custom fit, then just take to some one to bind the edges. I did my whole cockpit in my 500 for less than 700. Got the idea to diy after a local supplier quoted me 8k good grief.

I can bind it myself. Just didn’t have a supplier other than sailrite who would sell the material in rolls. Thanks for the tip.
