I am in the process of buying a one owner, fresh water, 1996 330da inboards, 454's for $57,500 contigent on a survey and a sea trial. I had my survey done by a good surveyor, and it passed as above average. The engines have 400 hours. I am scheduled for the sea trial with the seller, his broker, and my surveyor. I am hoping everything goes well. My question is: How much can I expect to reduce the purchase price if problems come up during the sea trial.
For example:

The GPS doesn't work.
The chartplotter doesn't work.
The stereo doesn't work.
The Radar has problems.
God forbid, an engine has problems.
There is some vibration of some sort.
Etc...
The boat is advertised as having no problems.

Thanks for your help.

Hope to be new owner of 1996 330 da 454's

Well, it certainly wouldn't be fair to deduct the full replacement value of an item if it didn't work. They are used, after all. I'd say a fair place would be to deduct at half replacement value - he did advertise it as everything works, right? 'Course, if that price you mentioned is already what you feel to be a smokin' deal, you might not want to press your luck too far.

If something doesn't work, find out how much it will cost to make it work and divide it in half.
