This is a great site! I have been reading and absorbing as much as I can.

We are on our way to Sarnia this weekend to complete a sea trial on our newly purchased 2003 480 Sedan Bridge. It has the Cummins QSM-11. Obviously, the survey has already been completed. Does anybody have advice about specific issues or items to check out?

Thanx in advance for your help.

Harold

Another member (Greg) just went through this process on a 2003... Check this thread out:

I gave a bunch of links to follow on writeups I've done... I think Greg may also be one to contribute here since he just went through this process...

There are quite a few people buying 480's these days... great boat... but there are a lot of things that can go wrong as it's a complex boat...

Thank you folks.

I read all I could on the site and we went ahead with the purchase. We brought her home from Sarnia to Midland, about 230 nautical miles.

Four Suns, you have some great info. I only hope I can share my experiences.

...more to come

So Wreckless buys the sister boat to Four Suns. Now how ironic is that? Kind of reminds me of Gary's dear friend W!**less.

Wreckless - I'm curious to hear how the trip home was. We will be running from Sandusky Ohio to Midland in late August.
Congrats on the new ride!

In answer to Dave, Saturday was a write-off. Three meter waves and 25 knot winds. (Understand that 3 meters on the great lakes is a lot more uncomfortable than ocean because of the closer waves) Sunday was much better. Lake Huron is relatively shallow so it tends to blow up easily. Georgian Bay was (as usual) much tamer. If you need to know the spots to stop, etc., let me know.

No, I don't have a brother and I am not related to Gary.

BTW The boat handled very well.
