We are looking at upsizing from 330 to a 2004 420 DA / Cummings. Hours just over 900 and fresh water boat. Any advice on specific things to look at during Sea trials?

Thanks in advance.

Freshwater history makes this less of a risk, but find out history of removing and cleaning aftercoolers, transmission coolers and heat exchangers. If they have never been done or not done recently plan to budget to have them cleaned. Same thing with valve lash adjustment. It is right at the hours where that should be done. Other than that, engines should run right around 160 degrees if cooling system is working properly. Wide open throttle should be in the 2650-2700rpm range.

Is it a 2004 or 2005 (you wrote both). If 2005 is it the 450 Diamond engines or the 480CE engines?
