sea rayder cavitation

Hi.
As a new member I hope this is the correct place for this question.
We just purchased a 1994 Sea Ray Sea Rayder. It runs fairly well but at higher speed it cavitates quite badly. Top speed is about 25 mph, after that it has afair bit of throttle and rpm left but the more throttle you give it the worse it cavitates and slows down. Any suggestions? Possible impeller?

Get under the boat and check to see if there is something wound around the impeller. A broken or twisted intake grate will also cause cavitation.

If the cause isn't visible, the impeller most likely needs to be checked by someone familiar with setting the clearance between the impeller and the wear ring on the pump.
