Hi guys. I have a 1988 sea ray 390 express. The shift\throttle knobs are looking pretty faded these days. Does anyone know where to purchase new ones? From what iv come up with I think they are Morse units. But I can't seem to find anything but replacement round knobs. And mine look like the picture attached.

That’s accurate but sometimes they purchased packages from Quicksilver/Mercury who was repackaging them from teleflex-Morse. So everything looks a bit off from the teleflex stuff. Gauges as well.

I got on the boat today and they are labeled Morse. Not having any luck even finding a picture online of the knobs nevermind actually buying them.

Forget it.....they are no longer available:

Take a look at this thread.

While I polished the zinc metal which looked okay.....I ended up powder coating it and they came out great.

You can remove them and repaint. It’s worked out very well on mine

At the moment they are just faded. I worry if I paint them and they start chipping off and really look terrible I'm up shits creek seeing as there is no option to get new ones. Iv see a fair amount of boats in my searches with these handles looking like new so I just assumed you could readily buy new ones. I'm finding any of these types of things that are broken ie. Hatch handles are impossible to get now a days. The beauty of owning an 80s boat I guess.

Any tips on how you went about painting them?

My shifters are different from the ones in your thread. I posted a picture of the same ones in the first post. I'm pretty positive they are solid plastic and have markings of being injection molded. But I will look more into it to be certain

Basically I carefully removed them, cleaned them and used super fine sandpaper to rough them up. Then used Rustolim for plastic.

I have the exact ones. They come off with a center screw. I painted mine as well. I just used Rust-Oleum semi gloss Black and Red. Just scuff with steel wool.
