Sea Ray Quality

I own an almost 15 year old boat, and I am always amazed at the response I get from emails sent to customer service !!!

Guys,...........I've known Rusty for about 15 years; and I can tell you that Tiara ain't got no Rusty!

Maybe they ain't got no Rusty but the company did just win the National Boat Manufacturer Association Award for superior customer service and satisfaction.

Ha! Sea Ray's got a few of them as well...."Since the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) began its Customer Satisfaction Index Awards program in 2004, Sea Ray has received more of these awards than any other boat manufacturer. In fact, we've won 27 of them, including CSI awards in 2008 for Deck Boats, Sterndrive Bowrider Boats, Sterndrive Cuddy & Express Boats, Fiberglass Outboard Boats, Motor Yachts & Trawlers, Inboard Fishing Express Boats, Inboard Flybridge Sedans & Convertible Boats, and Inboard Express Cruisers. These awards are a testament to the commitment of our dealers, our craftsmen and our work force, who try harder each day to deliver the most satisfying experience for our customers" SO THERE!

Isn't that special for the Tiara owners on Club Sea Ray.

Since there are 2 of you and this is a Sea Ray owner's forum, I wonder who really cares?

Not i. or plus 1, or ditto. or smiley face.

I care Mr. Webster! I care enough to respectfully ask sbw1 that the next time he is in the Central Florida area, to please contact me and see if we can not schedule a visit to the Sea Ray/Meridian Yacht Facility in Merritt Island FL.

Sbw1, if scheduling permits, I would be more than happy to escort you through this facility to see all facets of how we create the boats that roll out the big bay doors and the end of the line. We will see each phase of the assembly process and to make your visit is as meaningful, I will be prepared to document all the deficiencies or needed improvements that you see. We will stop and ask employees for their expert opinions on items that I may not be able to answer to your satisfaction. You will have my undivided attention on all the recommendations or suggestions that you think would make my boats better. I truly want to know. I will also follow up to you on each item, with answers for our reasoning or approach.

Sir, there is no doubt in my mind that your favorite boat company builds a good boat. I have been on and operated more than one of them. My offer for a visit is for a very simple reason and that is to demonstrably show you that my company does not build boats (please read #19 by, SteveRuss). The people that work in my company build boats with their hands and pride and it is our customers and their lifestyles that created our company ….Connie Ray (Sea Ray) that is a person whose products produced a company, not visa versa, and that personality still exist today.

Guys, please let this post close. It started out with a member’s question on quality and we all (yes, me included) started beating the drum. We may have beaten it so hard that we awoke a neighboring tribe. No big deal because we are all in this for the love of the water and I am sure our differences can be more positive than negative. Sbw1, I will be standing by sir, please take me up on my offer because I know a whole bunch of others would love to.

Can you hook us up with a tour of Tiara; I would love to see how they build boats!

Thanks again guys! You all are the absolute best…

See you on the water!

My 270DA is going to be 22 years old this coming summer and most of the factory installed equipment works fine! I'd say the hull is still 100% sound with no thru-hull leaks. My interior/exterior upholstery is still 90% also. I'd say it's a quality boat and a steal compaired to new boat prices, Mike.

This is my 4th boat and 2nd Sea Ray been boating since 1968. I love it, no complaints. Not trouble free but nothing is, especially something that floats on saltwater. Now where's my free hat? But seriously it's a great boat and built much sturdier than others I've seen and owned.

Rusty,
My late and dear friend Gene Whipp referred to you as "A stand up guy". When Gene said that of someone, it meant something significant, and from what I've read you have lived up to his high praise of you.
Gene served as my Offshore VP when I was President of the APBA. We also raced against one another since the late 60's when he lived in Dayton, OH and later when he started Gulfwind. He's the guy "guilty" of getting me into Sea Rays, and now I'm on my 4th, a 2003 60 Sun Sport. You likely know the boat, it was Larry Chayt's.
I appreciate all you do Rusty.

Steve,

To mention my name alongside Mr. Gene Whipps’ is putting me on the very top shelf in the marina industry sir. I do not deserve such a thing nor have I made near the contributions to our business as he did….but I will eat no humble pie on this one. I will wear that compliment like a badge of honor. And I will do so, all day today and tomorrow at Yacht Expo. Glad you reminded me of Mr. Whipp as I will make it a point to talk about him often; to all the old timers I see this weekend. We are never gone until we are forgotten; therefore Mr. Gene Whipp will be around Sea Ray boats for a whole lot longer than I.

Said I was closing this thread and I am, but when a name like that one is thought to be causally brought onboard, well sir…….ATTENTION, THE ADMIRAL IS ON THE DECK!

Thanks Steve, what a great memory to start a Sea Ray day!

Rusty

I've owned new SeaRay's from a 2000 18' to a 2005 50' Sedan Bridge. I believed quality has diminished over the years. My last boat, the 50 Sedan Bridge was the most complicated but it also had the most defects. Many defects were gel coat related, large stress cracks in the hardtop and plenty of air pockets in the gel coat. The boat also had hardware integrity issues that were related to poor assembly issues. Looking at new SeaRays I have seen this trend continue.
