Purchased a new 2018 with a Mercury outboard.
Splashed all over the website and Marcom, there is a 5 year warranty bow to stern. Seems simple.
I called Mercury to verify my engine warranty and it is listed as 3 years. I called the dealer and was told "it is 5 year but listed somewhere else, not Mercury". Hmmm...., what? So I contacted the Sea Ray factory and was told "Mercury supplies/packages their engines with an additional 2 years of coverage along with their standard 3 years to match our 5 years. They use a Brunswick Product Protect policy to do so. The dealer should be able to confirm the coverage with BPP."
So if year 4 there is an engine issue, how would an authorized Mercury repair facility know if I have a warranty left since their records only showed 3? Who would I call to get warranty work approved/authorized? Where is the BPP policy documented and who do I or the warranty service facility call?
It shouldn't be this difficult to document the warranty...
I know there are some Sea Ray dealer folks on here, could you help explain this?
