I just bought a 2001 460 Sundancer. While removing the cover to the control panel on the Westerbeke generator I shorted out one of the terminals on a switch and blew the 5A glass fuse. I know that I should have disconnected the battery, but I was just taking a quick look to see why the remote start from the salon panel was not working.
Well, I replaced the fuse along with the two relays used for the remote start. The generator works fine, but now the Sea Ray System Monitor reads, “Data Link Failure, Alarm System Offline”. The low oil alarm no longer sounds when I start either boat engine or the generator. When I hit the reset button, the monitor reads, “All Systems Normal” for a few seconds and goes offline. I disconnected the batteries for a few minutes thinking that would reset the “brain”, but still NG. The manual is silent on trouble shooting the System Monitor. The electronics tech at the marina had no ideas.
Has anyone run into the same problem? Do I have to hold down the reset button while reconnecting the batteries or something similar?
