.......to appliance replacement for my 1997 370 aft cabin.
My SPELDIDE washer-drier has plotzed and I discovered that Sea Ray has sealed my washer/drier combo into the boat so that the following are the options:
= catastrophic carpentry to get the old unit out/new in
= severe dismantling of the w/drier unit to get it out - same on the new (there goes the warranty) to get it in
= remove through the windshield
= remove through the engine removal panels in the salon ceiling
=the obvious door exit is unavailable by 1/2 inch - trust me, a number of skilled folks looked
I had mechanical help from an airline mechanic friend and we got down to my Splendide's control board where most experts agree my problem is located. SPLENDIDE refuses to help their customers because, in my opinion, they want no friction to their selling of a new control board for a staggering, jaw dropping, parts manager dazzling (and they see a bunch of crazy pricing), customer punishing price of $600.00….or selling a new unit. You can find 400.00 and 500.00 boards, but not easily. Plus, new unit is 1,100.00 if you shop so how do you justify an overpriced control board....another supporting reason for painful pricing on control board.
A N Y W A Y..........listen up!
A possible solution for any of you that may be in the same control board situation as me:
Dinosaur Electronics [yes, named because this guy rescues old circuit boards by repairing them for you.....reasonably and under 200.00-my understanding]
1160 SE 27th Street
Lincoln City, OR 97367
(super nice man runs the business)
This could be a resource that prevents you from having to do unthinkable things to your boat to get a replacement product physically into it.
So, I am repairing a 20 yr old washer/drier machine because Sea Ray stitched this boat together around my appliances. I know, common in the industry, but shooting people for fun behavior is OK because other people do it (murder statistics show 13k murders in 2015)? Would like to upgrade the refrig. from the Novacool 20 yr old under the counter unit I have, but the same extraction problem exists.
H A S anyone faced and overcome these extraction issues for appliances or furniture or anything? Would so love to hear any suggestions/solutions.
Thanks........................
