My 2002 Sea Ray Sundancer's horn was not working. When I checked the fuse box area I found the fuse for the horn missing. When I installed a new 5 amp fuse the horn came on and would not shut off. The only way I could get the horn to stop was to remove the fuse. Any suggestions on what might be causing this issue?

The horn switch is on the EIM switchpad on my 2002 225WE, not a traditional single switch. I assume it's the same on your 2002. If so, it may be the EIM switchpad. They all seem to fail eventually. Lots of posts on here about the problem and various solutions.

Save your money on the EIM pad and buy one of these guys! :):)

Oof. Glad my '94 has good old fashioned single switches. I'd forgotten newer boats used the EIM things.

Damn!!! Now you have me wanting a Milwaukee train horn!!!

Any advice on how to install a single aux switch? Since I have checked everything else, including the fuse and the other items on the pad still work, I believe it is the horn area on the switch pad.

Remove the wire from the output of the fuse. Wire a momentary switch in series with that wire back to the fuse block.

Hey lawndoc. How do you like your 225 weekender, I have 2006 215. Absolutely love my boat

Yup - even something as simple as a whistle satisfies the law. You just need "some means of making noise"... yelling and wildly waiving your hands in the air does NOT count :)

Although... even though that horn sounds strange to us at the helm, the sound does carry very well on the water - which is the important thing.

I've replaced my duck horn once already. The replacement is still working but I still carry an air horn as a back-up. It's such a weird location for the horn. Mounted on the starboard bow in an upward angle. It's just asking to be filled with water. It's a wonder they last as long as they do. Now that I've wrote this, I remembered that the OP's problem is the switch and not the horn. Oh well.

Absolutely love the 225WE. In many ways it's the perfect boat. It's a speedboat that's just big enough to have a small galley, cabin with v bunks, and a head. I installed a vacuflush, which was actually an option on the European version. My wife likes the boat so much that she wouldn't let me sell it when we moved up.

That's awesome,thank you

I would recommend double-checking the wiring from the horn back to the switch and then to the fuse box, looking for any signs of corrosion, frayed wires, or loose connections. If everything seems alright, then it might be worth examining the switch itself for any malfunctions. If you decide that the horn itself is beyond repair and are considering an upgrade, you could check out some robust train horn drill options here. They've got some powerful, marine-friendly horns that are easy to install. Best of luck getting to the bottom of this. Let us know how you resolve it, so others can learn from your experience!
