:huh:My 1996 280 BR has some of the gauges sticking,tach,volts,etc.. Does anyone know where I can find replacements if needed? I really don't want to have to do any rewiring. It has the 7.4L LX/MPI motor. If I pound on the glass of say the tach. the needle will drop down.:smt100

Start at FPmarine.com, they may have some surplus ones. To my knowledge Sea Ray has three series of gauges. For the sake of description, the oldest can be called traditional. Thses are very similar to most other boat gauges. The second technology is one SR called, "next generation'. These gauges have a six pin female plug on the back and are completely sealed. These appeared sometime around 2001/2002 on some but not all Sea Rays. The third technolgy is Smartcraft these started appearing around 2004/2005. Because these depended on engine computer technology, the implementation was dependent on type of engine installed.

Given the age of your boat you most likely have the first type of gauge. This is good because these are quite economical. So if you can't find SR replacements, many gauges may work for you from the high ends like Faria and Livorsi down to the more run of the mill Telefex / generic brands.

Thanks Henry, it's to cold to mess with now. Have read that some of the guys sprayed contact cleaner somewhere and that took care of their gauges, not sure where they sprayed, guess the back on terminals.

tachs can sometimes be fixed by rotating the setting switch on the back to clean the corrosion off the electrical conections. rotate back and forth several times and then put back on the setting where started.
