We love the Sea Ray 510 (1998-2001 for our budget) My wife and I would love some of your opinions on this boat. Thanks for any help!!! Tim

Hello Tim,
I just moved from a 2000 410 to a 2000 510 and couldn't be happier. I have 3 kids between the ages of 10&12 so the massive cabin of the 510 has been great. Mine has the Cat 3196TA's which are criticized by many as they had a slew of aftercooler failures leading to engine failures in the early days but have since been mostly rectified. An engine survey by Cat will be necessary but generally speaking if maintained well are a good engine. The boat is huge for a 51 both in length and height. The cabin has over 7' of headroom with a big "wow" factor and IMO has an awesome layout. Ours cruises right round 28 mph @ 1900rpm with a decent load of fuel and supplies running just over 40 gallons/hr. I would say the 510 is a big bang for the buck when compared to similar sized boats.

Thanks! I was originally looking at 450-460 but saw the interior on the 510 and knew that was the boat. Plus, we love the sleek look of the early 2000's and it fits the playtime budget.

28mph?! that's awesome for a boat that size

I was really happy with that. My 410 with 3116's would cruise 25mph at 2350 rpms with a decent load and I thought that was really good too. Of course the 410 was just sipping fuel at that speed.

yup, we love the 2100-2250 cruise range on our 3126's
