Hi

I am based in Cape Town South Africa.

I have just taken delivery of a 240 Sundeck 2006.

What a stunning boat.

2 queries.

1 The rear cockpit light was fused. When I replaced the globe it fused again. I put coloured globes in and neither of them work so I assuemt they have fused again.

What causes this?

2. I went out in rough seas yesterday and the boat handled like a demon!

THe only problem is that the there is a small puddle of water settling in att he very rear on the carpet by the rear door. I am worried the carpet is going to ferment in time. Where is this water coming from and how do I deal with it?

Any advice will be appreciated!

As far as your lights go it sounds like you have a short in the wiring or in one the light fixtures.

The water that is puddling in the rear of your cockpit is a problem I also had on my 2002 240 Sundeck. What was happening was water was backwashing into the thru hull fitting on the starboard side when I came off plane. That thru hull fitting is fairly close to the water line. Then that water would drain out except for a small amount which would lie near the drain and of course my carpet was always wet as well just like you describe. To fix the problem, I disconnected the hose from the inside of the cockpit drain fitting at the very rear by the transom door. That cockpit fitting would then drain directly into the bilge. I then plugged the hose going to the outside thru-hull and tied it up out of the way.

When you say "fused"... am I correct that you mean the fuse has popped/blown? You don't mean "melted", right?

Sounds like a short somewhere. Could be as simple as corrosion - try pulling the whole assembly and taking a look. Unless you've got the wrong size fuse in there?

For the water issue, another solution would be to install a scupper.
