Hi there,

Wondering if anyone can offer any assistance...recently the engine compartment was flooded due to a leak in the transom (any info on that would be appreciated also) filling the bilge area, bilge wasn't working due to battery being flat (constant use of the bilge pump to remove the water leaking in) its be replaced and now all the water has been removed but the engine won't start. I have checked all fuses and electronics and bilge pump/blower ect. are working. Have checked the current to the starter motor and there appears to be power although when turn the ignition the alarm sounds and it doesn't turn over.....i'm thinking that maybe water has entered into motor preventing it from working....is possible or any further info would be great.....sounds stupid I know but all happened when I was out of the country and where I livethere aren't too many people close by who can help...all advice truely welcomed. Many thanks

I've bever heard of an alarm sounding, hopefully nothing serious. I ran into a similar problem, when I accidentally shorted out the battery. After replacing all the fuses and checking everything else, it turned out to be the little red breaker switch (actually a push button) on the motor. I'm sure you checked it, but I didn't (at least not right away).

Good luck!

Sharkie

a year of boat would be nice but I guess some of our experts could just cover off on all years in their answers!

Again, this is why everyone needs to have their boat info in their signature line so you don't forget to put the important information when asking questions.
