Hi

I have recently purchased a 2008 Sea Ray 185 Sport and the chap who owned it before me imported an Original Sea Ray Wake tower and fitted it as it didn't have one from new.

Prior to the tower he had the standard bimini top which now does not fit as the tower gets in the way.

I have seen pictures of the Factory tower and it's bimini and it appears to be attached to the tower and have the smaller/shorter legs on the front.

Does anyone know, or carried out some kind of conversion to adapt the original bimini to be now used with the tower.

I thought about shortening the poles and have it bellow the tower but seems a bit silly and also probably quite difficult to do without compromising the strength of the legs.

Hope someone knows :smt001

You can shorten the bimini poles without loosing strength.

Lot's of things can be done with enough initiative and creative thinking. If you shorten the legs, you'll also need to move the mounts. Adapting the current bimini to work with the tower may very well require even more cutting/fabricating with the legs, not to mention making the top fasten to the tower.

It might be easier to simply buy the factory bimini that was designed for the tower and then resell your current bimini to recoup some of the cost.
