I am considering purchasing an aftermarket swim grid for my 1999 Sea Ray 180.

Does anyone have experience towing a tube with an aftermarket swim grid using the stock tow ring? It looks like the tow rope may come in contact with the swim grid..

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Swim grid... is that Canadian for Swim Platform? :smt001

I suppose it depends on the platform you buy, but I really can't imagine how it would interfere with the rope. The ski eye is above the platform to begin with, the rope goes pretty much straight out (just a few degrees downward angle), plus the angle of the boat (bow up) helps, too.

Keep in mind that you're adding a chunk of weight back there and it will affect your hole shot and low speed planing. You might end up considering adding Smart Tabs. Either way, they're a great investment.

Sometimes the tow line would get fouled on the boarding ladder on mine. Are you talking about adding something to the surface of the swim platform?

Lol. Yes that is the Canadian equivalent!

Thanks for the advice!

No I was concerned that the angle of the rope may interfere with the swim platform. But I think it may be a non issue.

I would think it would be a non issue, our Sport 190 has a nice swim platform, and I use the tow eye for towing grandkids on tubes, and other inflatables at times, never had an issue with the rope getting tangled in with anything regarding the swim platform or ladder attached.

I added a swim platform this past winter and have had no problems with the lines towing this year.
