All,
What are your thoughts of adding sea foam to the fuel / through the engines. I know some people swear by it and I have done so in the past on my old boat. I just added 50 gallons to each engine and recommendation on bottle is to add an ounce per gallon. Boat is running well but was thinking of adding 50 ounces port and starboard. Wasting my money? Can I do any damage?

These additives basically function to extend the life of fuel during storage typically beyond a 3-4 month window. (Most benefit is seen when added to fresh fuel. Essentially they don’t turn old fuel fresh again.) Another benefit is that some claim to partly reduce carbon and varnished buildup within engine components in which the treatment comes in contact with. So if you plan to use the fuel in the short term it’s personal preference whether to use the additive or not. If you plan to store the fuel for an extended period it would be a good time to add it upon fill up. IMO

I just filled up on Sunday. Do you feel like 8 bottles 128 ounces is appropriate? I have two hundred galling tank. Again close to full. Seems excessive to me and I will be using this weekend a lot and use regularly

Skip it, waste of money. Sea Foam is more of a decarb, popular with 2 stroke oil burners.

If you want to do a cleaning you may be better off setting up a pre-mix tank and feeding fuel from that. That way you can easily increase the percentage of cleaner to fuel.

I have a 2-stroke and put 1 bottle of Sea Foam Marine per tankful. Boat is about 30 gallons and bottle is for 30 gallons. But I'm mostly interested in the carbon benefits to carbs and plugs not fuel storage. It's $8 added to a $100 tankful so not a big deal for my little tank.

Once a month I put a bottle of regular Sea Foam in a tankful of the truck's fuel. No clue if it makes a difference but I get decent mpg in my pickup so why stop just to find out.

Since I haven't used my boat like I should the last year or even this year I like to use Stabil Marine and/or Techron Marine when I'm going to let 100 plus gallons sit for a while.

Just like oil choices you are going to get multiple suggestions. Just pick one that is readily available and see how it works.

How about in diesels? I had a guy last weekend swear by it in his Tiara. I follow Franks directions for my fuel treatment, but up this way sea foam is easier to find.

As said earlier, its a bit preferential, same as oil branding. My father and Grandfather swore by Marvel Mystery Oil. I don't use it, except a squirt in small engines doing winterization. Probably have a case worth of the steel quart cans in my garage I inherited.

I use it often, even add it with the oil. I notice better performance and cleaner carb on my dinghy, and hope it also helps the larger engines in some way.
