We have a 2019 250 SDX OB. Runs idles fine but won’t take full throttle I changed the on motor water separator/filter. Starts to bog down runs rough then stalls restarts fine and runs up to 7-10 mph no problem .Is there a second filter in the bilge? Did the all have one?
boat ran great on sea trials.
Boat has 40 total hours Mercury Verado 300. any ideas before I bring it in 12 miles away at 6 MPH?

How did things look inside the FW sep? I would start by checking fuel condition - siphoning/draining some into a clear glass jar and let it sit for an hour or so. I don't believe there's a primary filter in the bilge - but just follow the fuel line. However, that's not to say that a previous owner didn't install one - again, follow fuel line. If it's there it has to be accessible, of course.

You could plumb a portable tank direct the engine.

We added 40 gals as soon as we got the boat the marina does move a lot of gas so I’m assuming theirs is good. Can’t really plumb a portable tank to this engine it’s all under warranty I was just looking for a quick fix, I’ll have to drive the hour and look for an additional filter I guess.

Moisture can get in other ways, though. Plumbing in a portable won't affect anything - it's easy. But only do that if you suspect fuel condition to be an issue. So the problem happened immediately after adding that 40 gallons? It sounds like that's what you're saying and may be the key variable here.

Is there a drain in your fuel supply module? You can check fuel condition that way, too.

There's no quick fix as the issue is too vague and can have multiple reasons. Some diagnosis has to be done to narrow down the possibilities. Fuel is a relatively easy one to check. You could also verify that plug wires are fully seated... even pull the plugs and "read" them.

My 2018 Sdx 270 OB has a spin on fuel filter in the bilge, in an area where you need to disassemble the storage area to gain access.

I just came back from the boat I removed the rear floor cooler hatch and no primary filter in the bilge. The on engine water separator would have told me if there was water present I’m guessing

Update: since the boat is under warranty I had it looked at, with only 40 hrs on the boat that did more harm than good, the fuel pick up tube was partially clogged and falling off. New part ordered and they need to clean the bottom of the tank there was almost zero gas in the tank before sea trials so the broker added $20 boat ran great, I filled it up when it arrived at my marina so that probably stirred everything up. Ok easy fix hopefully

It is crazy how quickly fuel degrades these days. It just doesn’t last that long before it turns to sludge.
