I want to add a system to my 2005 Sundancer and am thinking of the M1 TracVision-I use the boat only at Lake Mead,NV.-is this the right system for me?

Yes, That's the way to go. Works great for me and only $4.99 for the extra reciever. We will be watching some college football tonight out on the hook. Don't get any better. Good luck.

Yes. The M1 is the most cost effective dish and perfect for your size boat & location. I have been using mine for 2 seasons and LOVE it!! Just watch where you mount it. There are some recommendations if you have radar. If you don't then no worries!! Good Luck.

What would you suggest since I have Raymarine Radar?

great way to spend the weekend-football on the hook!

This is the mount I used for several reasons.

I did not want any " Blind Spots" on the radar. KVH tech said not to mount M1 on the same plane as radar within something like 3-4'. Also, with the dish elevated I figured I would not get blocked from the satellite signal by the radar dome. And finally, I think it looks cool!! This website also had it the cheapest out of all I found. The guy I dealt with is Don Doung. He's a good dude and he also matched the cheapest price I got on the M1 on another site. This way I got all my stuff @ once. I ordered on a friday afternoon and it was in my garage Monday afternoon. There are other similar mounts around. I would do a google search. My mount required an adapter plate made by Seaview because the M1 had just come out and the mount was for the bolt pattern on the M3. I also purchased a 4 degree wedge for under my radar so I got a better trajectory while under power. Hope this is helpful. Good Luck!

Thanks Todd-I'll be going that web site-be safe out there!

You're welcome. Good luck with the install. This was definitely the best upgrade I did on my boat! The Glomax out here is lame. A few channels and none of them carry the local Baseball teams. You have to have Yes network or SNY to see local baseball. I also agree with you, nothing better than watching a football game at the beach downing a few cold ones! Unfortunately by mid season here we are sitting by a fireplace watching the games!!

Spring for the M2 and get those games in Hi Def

The M2 is only going to get Hi-Def on Dishnetwork, not Directv. Directv changed the bandwidth their HD is on so now you need the M7 to receive it in HD. Retail is around $12K. Too pricey for the upgrade. The M2 also is only good for docked or anchored viewing and does not work while underway. This could be a problem if your travelling far distances with children who are "Bored"! You could upgrade to the M3 which works while underway but is not necessary on the lake because it's advantage over the M1 is that while it will receive Dishnetwork it is also rated to work about 200 miles offshore as opposed to the 100 mile range of the M1. I have an M3 that I bought off someone but I wont be switching it on my boat. I am very happy with my M1! Also noteworthy is if you plan on getting the NFL Suday Ticket package, it's only available on Directv, not Dishnetwork.

For my '09 270DA I went with a RayMarine 33STV; its dish is 13" but basically the same size as a M1. It works extremely well and was very easy to install. Of course, here in Canada it's Bell ExpressVu but the 33STV supports all satellites. By default, and all the documentation, describes DirectTV though. Also, the 33STV is also HD and can track 3 satellites switchable at a push of button (even by remote; programmable).

For more info on my install, go to my thread What's connected on a 2009 Sea Ray 270?. Here what it looks after I did the installation:
