The Sarasota, Venice and Cape Haze MarineMax are hosting a rendezvous for the July 4th weekend at Longboat Key Moorings. I'm considering going, never spent the 4th in Sarasota Bay. I'm familiar with the area, but not the event or marina.

How is Longboat Key Club?

Anyone else planning on doing this MM event?

How's the 4th in Sarasota Bay?

I may attend......I have been to the marina but just to idle in and look around. Nice place. I expect the usual holiday wackiness on the bay. Maybe lots of small sailboats on the south end of the bay. Makes great slalom bouys! OK...just kidding!

Cool... let me know.

Good times in Sarasota for the 4th. Lots of boats not too crazy though. They launch the fireworks off of a city park right in front of Marina Jacks. We get a slip every year at Marina Jacks. The bay outside of Marina Jacks will get packed with boats watching the fireworks. Stick around for Sunday the 5th and anchor alongside the boat races. They're awesome to watch. This website will give you a list of events for the week in Sarasota and a view of the race course. http://suncoastoffshore.org/

Thanks for the tips and link. We'll check it out.

We're headed up Friday morning. Looks like MM has plenty of activities lined up. Hoping to go out on Leading Lady to watch the off shore grand prix as well.

Anyone coming?
