Do any CSR members fish the waters off of San Diego (or in the general SoCal area)?
I grew up in South Florida, fishing my whole life. In Florida I've fished for largemouth bass in canals, Snook, Reds and Tarpon in the shallows/flats, and deep sea for Dolphin (still hard to get used to Dorado), Amberjack, bill fish, etc. Now that I live in SD, I'm ready to get serious about fishing here. I have been reading up on forums like "Bloody Decks" and "SDFish" to learn about local species, techniques and locations.
I think I am starting to understand enough of the local jargon and acronyms to make sense of what I'm reading. There is some that is pretty similar, for example the Dorado/Dolphin techniques. But there is a lot that seems very different, and a lot I will have to learn and experience.
So, my question is if there are any other good online resources that can help me with very specific information about equipment, line, leaders, tackle, lures, baits, techniques, etc. I'm looking for something that's more like a tutorial or guide, instead of forum posts. Most forum posts typically describe a catch using lots of jargon and some detail, but in a way that assumes the reader has experience fishing here.
Thanks in advance.
