re: Salt Water Bowrider & Fresh Water Cooling (Yes or No?)

Hi there. I have recently bought a 2007 Sea Ray 195 Sport with 50 hours on its Merc 5.0L V8 engine.
The majority of my boating will be done in salt water near my home. I will of course flush the boat for around 15 minutes after each outing.

Recently a friend suggested getting a fresh water cooling system installed. He said that it would roughly cost $1500 to $1800 installed.

I have a couple of questions in that I plan to have this boat a while.

Should I consider getting the fresh water cooling system?

Is this something that could be installed by me?

Where should I get the material?

* Any other salt water suggestions would also be good?

Thank you and cheers for your assistance.

Welcome aboard!

Am I assuming correctly that you are trailering the boat and putting the boat in and out each time you use it? If that's the case, I'd suggest holding on to your money. Not that it would hurt anything (other than your wallet) to install it, just that it would be overkill and I highly doubt that you would realize any parts longevity due the the C.C. system.

Now, if you were leaving it in the water, that's a different story.
