Here is a couple pics and my report from our trip to Port Sanilac on Friday:
Ran south looking for some warmer water. The lake only warmed up 1.5 degrees (now at 41.5) since our last trip 2 weeks ago. Not much happening until we got to within 3 miles of Lexington. Our pattern was to s-curve from 10fto out to 17 ft. Nothing happening at all, not even a mark. We decided to bail on the shallow stuff and work out a bit. When we hit 19 fow the shoot rigger set 10 down, 20 back pearl/metalic bomber fired with a tarpon like 11-12lb class king. After tearing in and out, up and down, we finally got him in the net. We reset lines and went about another 1/2 hour and that same rig fired with a 4lb or so king, same depth of water, about a mile south of the last fish.
After that, we proceeded to hook and loose 4 fish what looked to be coho's and or small steelies and another decent king. Could not buy a laker hit. Another boat came in with a few lakers and a small king, they were a mile north of Sanilac in 10-15 fow.
It turned out to be a beautiful day with 1-2ft rollers out of the south east. The sun came out and we had a great trip.
Oh, we did a little surgery on the boat when my one buddy got his finger too close to the netted bigger king and ended up pinned to a thrashing salmon with the hook on the bomber. The ole, 50lb test mono, hold the hook down trick worked like a champ to relieve him of his impalement.
Here's a couple more pics for enjoyment:
The Sea Ray's gettin bloody!
