Didn't know if anyone saw this and I haven't seen it here, thought I would post for those interested.

SALE OF WALKERS CAY STALLED

Negotiations for the purchase of the Walker’s Cay resort (previously reported on 8/14/10) have come to a standstill, with the primary bidder for the site claiming that the seller is making the process to close the deal on the multimillion dollar project more difficult.
Principal of the offshore developer Victoria House IBC, claims that the seller of the property is making demands that are becoming hard for his group to meet. Walker’s Cay has been owned by the Abplanalp family from New York and their corporation for the past 50 years.
Diane Jenkins, of Florida’s Jenkins Realty Inc., is the referral agent representing the seller and confirmed that the property is back on the market. (Condensed from the Nassau Guardian, 9/27/10.)

I went to walkerscay.com...It doesn't look like the same place as I remembered from Flip's Chronicles. Looks like a hurricane beat the hell out of the place.

Hi Tom - when speaking to the folks at Big Game, they told me they looked at Walker's but decided not to move forward as there are huge environmental issues with the island. Apparently, the above ground fuel tanks ruptured during the hurricane that hit the island several years ago. It was never taken care of and is a stumbling block to any perspective buyer.

It's a shame they can't get it done. It's a cool place.

Randy

So unless someone takes care of it (like the current owners) the island has become an environmental nightmare due to fuel tanks and whatever else has spilled in and around the island. What a shame.
