Sailflow Alternative

Sailflow is a weather app that predicts hourly wind and weather conditions and is pretty accurate within a 24-48 hour window. Sadly, it appears the makers of the app have put most of their data behind a paywall.

Does anyone have any recommendations for an alternative wind predicting app?

Predict wind & Windy have been my traditional tools.

Starting to use the weather in Aquamap - pretty cool.

There is a discussion on a recent article I read - either BoatUS or Waterway - where the different apps were compared. Really comes down to the forecast model they are using.

Funny, I just use the built in weather app on the phone and pad. I find it to be 80-90% accurate when I’m on the boat. I do realize however that the lake is significantly different from coastal/tidal.

I don’t have a problem with it…. You can still hit forecast and move forward by days and time…. That’s all I use it for

I did that and that is where I found the paywall. Upon closer examination if I select the "Blend" model I can see the forecast information I was looking for.

That's pretty cool, but make sure you select "sea surface". For me, it defaulted to 2 miles above ground and I thought I was going to be deep shit. Lol

Windy has the same thing but defaults to the surface, also has a slider by the forcast tools.

I wet my finger in my mouth, lean out over the gunwale as far as I can and hold my finger as high in the air as possible, then report to the Admiral… ‘it’s a titty bit nipply out here’ …or …. Getting a bit of a blow out here, , or ‘it’s faaking windy out here’ .
For local conditions the method is really quite accurate in real time.

None of you guys use Predict Wind? I find the interface a bit more simple than Windy....
