I was on my daily bike ride to the gym, and I look toward the beach and see this:

We've had some pretty severe winds blowing onshore over the past week and I guess this one just broke its mooring and came to shore.

High tide is at about 5P - I'm toying with the notion of going down there with a cooler and a lawn chair and watch them try and bring it back out to sea.

There was TowBoat US folks all around the ship and it didn't look damaged, so I hope they'll be OK once it gets back out to sea.

Why don't you use admiralty laws and claim it? If the owner is not there, it can be yours...

Nobody needs a boat that big, plus it makes all the people who don't own boats (or smaller ones) feel badly. I think he should be required to take people who don't own boats out on cruises. Kind of like community service.

I'm not going on a charity cruise with a captain who can get a boat that size with about a 5' to 6' draft that far up the beach.

Where's my free cell phone so I can call someone with a cool boat - like a bridge boat or something...???

oh yeah - here it is.... bling bling

Looks pretty shallow for a long way out. See those breakers? Wouldn't want to be in anything other than a big tug out there pulling those lines. A big tug would have too deep of a draft. After the storm moves on, the surge that brought to boat onshore will probably recede and never refloat it until the next big one. Should be very interesting to see how they do it. You can't just drag it across the sand.

I've got a much better idea for this eyesore...

Don't know how they did it but went out fishin today and it was gone - caught a bunch of vermillion snapper and a dolphin - bad weather though, winds out of the west...

You went out yesterday? Brave soul...
I've been waiting two weeks for this damn wind to lay down so I can get some kingfish steaks!

We got a couple Kings, a Dolphin and then went bottom fishing and got some Vermilion Snappers.

We smoked the kings that night and I have a fridge full - yum!

We're going to bake the snappers whole with some rice and beans, Belize style.

The weather wasn't bad at all - we were in a 35' Seavee Center Console and it handled it just fine - I'd say seas were 4-5 with the occasional set of 8's.

This one sunk in Marco Island. Not sure when, but it was there in April 2008.
