Saginaw River perch 10/22/11

I feel bad for you guys who put your Rays away already:grin:. Cleaned up 40 nice perch last night after a couple hours anchored over by Bay Harbor Marina. What a beautiful afternoon and the fish were biting too.

Fried perch, slaw and taters tonight for dinner! That's Bay gold right there.

You are worse than the guys still boating by making us hungry too.

Oh well, I'll dream of salmon next year. Thanks again! MM

Mike,
We will be in Frankfort again for the later half of August. Look me up and you will be rewarded with more salmon fillets!!

If the salmon fishing is anything like it was this year, I may just leave the boat there for the whole month of August next year....we will see.

Sorry Banagy, no left overs.

Next year the 480 will be rigged for slaying Mr King Salmon over in Whitehall/Montague...And with any luck it will be a good year again....Guttin and grindin in my future for Next Year...Can't wait to slay'em next year what about you Getaway???

I'm pumped for next year Robert! We caught a 30lber in Frankfort along with a lot of fish in the 20+ range this past August. What a fantastic year for the Great Lakes. Even Lake Huron was good this past spring. More kings, steelies and coho than in the past 6-7 yrs. Yeah, spring of 2012 can't come fast enough!

These pics should get you fired up:

Re: Saginaw River perch 10/22/11

Great looking fish getaway. Have a question for you. Is the whole river a no-wake zone out to the lake? I am thinking about going down there next year and was just curious. I see a lot of boats going slow but some are hauling @$$ so I didn't know.

Thanks!

There are still a couple of wake area's. Between the Independence Bridge (M15) and Wheelers landing is wake and also between the Veterans Bridge and Lafayette bridge (along Vets Park). Then it opens up to a wake zone again, about a mile upstream of Lafayette Bridge all the way to Saginaw.

Nope I cannot see those pics you've posted, I can see everything else but those pics...30 lber wow thats a PIG>>>.
Are you on GLF...at all Great Lakes Fishermen.com???

I use Mozilla too, and have had problems in the past. When in doubt, switch to Explorer and check again...lol.

I am having a Swim platform railing made so we can walk right out onto the platform and bring those monsters in to the "Death box" cooler..My plat form is 15' wide by about 48" deep maybe more on the depth, so we will have lots of room, might even put a bench on it for leaning against, while bringing them in...Rod holders too...
Post those on GLF you'll be the envy of the Year...

So between independence bridge and wheelers landing is no-wake? I am a little confused how you say it's wake and then wake zone, Are there signs? A wake area is not a no-wake zone, Correct?

Re: Saginaw River perch 10/22/11

When I stated "wake area" I meant you are allowed to throw a wake. Sorry.

Robert,
A bunch of the guys on GLF already know about those fish!

thnaks for the clarification - Didn't know the difference between a wake area and a wake zone. :) Are there signs at all or are you just supposed to know this?

Thanks

LK

there are signs on the bridges and one at wheelers,it is common courtesy to go slow past blocks marina and the bay is all wake zone starting at the range light bouy.It is about a 45 min trip from the mouth to skipper buds mabey less.smaller boats seem to go a bit faster as do snail boats.I own a slip at sunset shores right at the moth of the river so its 10 minutes to open water from there.
